Matrix Energy to Inaugurate LPG Plant in Delta

An indigenous oil and gas company, Matrix Energy Limited, has concluded plans to inaugurate the first Liquefied Petroleum Gas plant with a capacity of over five million litres in Warri, Delta State.

The plant, which is the first privately built LPG facility, is billed to be inaugurated by the Federal Government in December.

The Managing Director, Matrix Energy, Alhaji Abdukabir Aliu, represented by the Chief Operation Officer, Mr. Loqman Salam-Alada, stated this on Wednesday when the leadership of the Nigerian Association of LPG Marketers visited the site of the project in Warri.

He stated that with the completion of the project, plant owners within Bayelsa, Delta, Edo and other neighbouring states, would thenceforth not need to travel to Lagos to purchase the product.

He stated that the decision to site the project in Warri was to make the product readily available, accessible and affordable to consumers in the region.

He said, “Each of the 2,500 storage tanks is equivalent to five million litres. We have done the first test-running and by weekend, we will do the second test-running. Hopefully by December, we will commence operation. We have also made arrangement with four companies for product so that we do not run out of supply.”

The Chief Marketing Officer, Matrix Energy, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Okoizi, said that the company had purchased 17 LPG trucks.

Okoizi added that the company was expecting an additional 30 trucks before the end of December to enhance its operations.

Addressing journalists after the tour of facilities, the National President, NALPGAM, Mr. Nosa Ogieva-Okunbor, called on the Federal Government to provide its members the basic assistance to enable it to grow the LPG industry.

Ogieva-Okunbor, while commending Matrix Energy for the investment, said their dream was to encourage more Nigerians to turn to the LPG for cooking.

“It is great that a Nigerian entrepreneur is building such a massive depot of 5,000 metric tonnes. This will help in deepening the LPG usage in the country,” he said.
